Meeting Held at the Agricultural State Laboratory with Representatives of the U.S. Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA)

Representatives of the Agricultural State Laboratory and the U.S. Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) discussed the results of their long-standing cooperation and future areas of collaboration.

The meeting focused particularly on the outcomes of DTRA’s support for the development of Georgia’s veterinary sector. The parties discussed the strengthening of laboratory infrastructure and technical capabilities, as well as initiatives implemented to enhance the professional qualifications of specialists.

The development and sustainability of the electronic disease surveillance system were also discussed. Attention was drawn to the importance of the system in ensuring effective disease surveillance and information management, as well as opportunities for continued support.

The meeting also addressed specific areas of future cooperation, including training and professional development activities for specialists, participation in international conferences, and opportunities for cross-border cooperation.

Cooperation with international partners contributes to the development of the Agricultural State Laboratory’s laboratory capabilities, the exchange of professional knowledge and experience, and the strengthening of the resilience of Georgia’s veterinary sector.
