A working meeting was held with fish farmers in the city of Kutaisi
Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Lasha Avaliani and Director of the State Laboratory of Agriculture Irakli Guledani met with fish farmers.
The meeting participants discussed the challenges existing in the sector, future plans, and the need for cooperation in order to prevent diseases and, consequently, eliminate risks harmful to human health associated with fish products.
At the meeting, farmers were introduced to the studies implemented at the laboratory in the field of fish disease diagnostics. The participants discussed in detail issues related to fish disease diagnostics, including procedures for sample collection and delivery to the laboratory.
Within the framework of the visit to Kutaisi, Deputy Minister Lasha Avaliani visited the Kutaisi Regional Laboratory, inspected the infrastructure equipped with modern technology, and familiarized himself with the research implemented at the laboratory in the field of fish diseases.
Representatives of the National Food Agency, the Rural Development Agency, and the State Laboratory of Agriculture attended the meeting with the farmers.
