A working meeting with fish-farming farmers was held in Samtskhe–Javakheti on the issues of diagnosing fish diseases
Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Lasha Avaliani, together with the Director of the State Laboratory of Agriculture, Irakli Guledani, met with fish-farming farmers in Akhaltsikhe.
During the meeting, farmers were informed about the laboratory research methods introduced for the detection of fish diseases. The participants discussed in detail the issues related to diagnosing fish diseases, including the rules for sample collection and delivery to the laboratory.
“Our goal is to increase the capacities of laboratories, introduce modern research methods, and thereby create an even higher-quality service system. This is important both for the regions and on a national scale to ensure the safety and quality of agricultural production. Fish farmers no longer need to send samples to the central laboratory — regional laboratories conduct tests with the same high standards. The main task is to develop effective cooperation between farmers and the laboratory,” said Lasha Avaliani.
As part of the visit to Samtskhe–Javakheti, the Deputy Minister visited the Akhaltsikhe Regional Laboratory, inspected the infrastructure equipped with modern technology, and familiarized himself with the research implemented in the field of fish diseases.
The meeting with farmers was also attended by the State Representative of Samtskhe–Javakheti, Zaal Gelashvili; the Mayor of Akhaltsikhe Municipality, Varlam Tsiklauri; as well as representatives of the National Food Agency and the Rural Development Agency.
