Specialists from the State Laboratory of Agriculture Met with Fruit and Wine Growers in Kakheti

#

A meeting was held in Gurjaani, where specialists from the State Laboratory of Agriculture engaged with local fruit and viticulture farmers to discuss sector-specific challenges and emphasize the critical role of diagnostics in ensuring crop safety and productivity.

The discussion focused on the importance of strengthening laboratory services at the regional level and the implementation of essential research to support the production of safe and high-quality agricultural products.

Nino Datukishvili and Tea Abramishvili, specialists from the Plant Pest Diagnostics Department, delivered presentations on the identification and laboratory diagnostics of crop pests. They also provided guidance on effective measures to prevent losses caused by plant diseases.

Initiated by the State Laboratory of Agriculture, the meeting formed part of an ongoing outreach effort aimed at promoting laboratory research services throughout the country. The initiative seeks to inform those involved in agriculture—within the framework of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture—about the services available under the Ministry’s system, while fostering direct engagement with local stakeholders.

The meeting in Gurjaani was attended by Mayor Giorgi Machavariani, Chairman of the City Council Vano Beridzishvili, Deputy Mayor Levan Khaziuri, and representatives of the Rural Development Agency and the State Laboratory of Agriculture.
