Head of Genetic Testing Laboratory Participates in International Meeting Hosted by ADAFSA

The Head of the Genetic Testing Laboratory of the State Laboratory of Agriculture, Tinatin Elbakidze, participated in the seventh meeting of the Global Small Ruminants Pestivirus Research and Expertise Network (PPR-GREN), held at the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA).

The meeting brought together over eighty experts, researchers, and officials from more than thirty countries. Participants discussed global strategies for controlling Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR), advancing sustainable development, and enhancing livestock protection.

As part of the event, Ms. Elbakidze delivered an oral presentation on the topic: “Epidemiology of Peste des Petits Ruminants Virus (PPRV) in Georgia.”

The conference featured discussions on the latest advancements in PPR-related epidemiology, surveillance, diagnostics, and the integration of vaccination programs into broader disease eradication strategies. Notable innovations such as heat-resistant vaccines and advanced diagnostic techniques were presented, highlighting their significance in supporting global efforts to eliminate PPR.

The event was organized under the auspices of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH).
