All Necessary Research for Fish Disease Diagnostics Now Available Within the State Laboratory of Agriculture Network
Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Solomon Pavliashvili, met with fish farmers in Gori to discuss the current state, potential, and innovations in Georgia’s aquaculture sector.
During the meeting, the heads of the Animal Disease Diagnostics and Food Research Departments of the State Laboratory of Agriculture delivered presentations on fish disease diagnostics and laboratory testing of fish and fish products.
“For the development of the aquaculture sector and the production of competitive, internationally compliant products, it is essential that locally produced goods undergo laboratory testing in accordance with global standards. Today, Georgia operates a network of state agricultural laboratories that meet international benchmarks and conduct research in fish disease diagnostics. At the same time, the government is ready to support the export of Georgian fish, mollusks, and crustaceans to international markets, including the European Union,” stated Deputy Minister Pavliashvili.
As noted during the meeting, the key challenges faced by fish farmers were discussed, and future priorities for the sector were outlined.
The meeting was attended by Levan Kharabadze, State Representative of the Shida Kartli Region; Simon Guledani, Acting Mayor of Gori Municipality; Irakli Guledani, Director of the State Laboratory of Agriculture; as well as representatives from the Rural Development Agency, the National Food Agency, the State Laboratory of Agriculture, and the Georgian Fish Farmers Association.
