Solomon Pavliashvili: "The laboratory is ready to receive samples and conduct full diagnostics for fish diseases"
Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Solomon Pavliashvili and Minister of Agriculture of the Adjara Autonomous Region Zaza Shavadze met with fish farmers and laboratory representatives.
At the working meeting, the parties discussed the development of the aquaculture sector in Georgia, discussed existing opportunities, challenges, and future plans.
Special attention was paid to the achievements of the State Laboratory of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture in the field of fish disease diagnostics.
At the meeting, laboratory specialists presented a presentation on the research needed for fish farmers.
"An important step has been taken in Georgia towards expanding laboratory research. As the production and export of quality products increases in the country, international standard laboratory diagnostics are becoming necessary and in demand. At the initiative of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, over the past year, numerous meetings have been held with the target segment, we have studied and implemented laboratory research necessary for fish farmers. Today, the laboratory is ready to receive samples and conduct full diagnostics for fish diseases," said Solomon Pavliashvili.
The meeting held in Adjara was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Adjara Autonomous Region, the Adjara Laboratory Research Center, the Forage Association, the Vakijvari Trout Farm, the National Food Agency, and the State Agricultural Laboratory.
