Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Solomon Pavliashvili, visited Ozurgeti, where he held a meeting with local fish farmers

During the meeting, the parties discussed the significance of advancing aquaculture in Georgia.
“We presented the capabilities of the State Agricultural Laboratory to business operators actively engaged in aquaculture,” stated Solomon Pavliashvili. “The laboratory possesses the capacity to conduct all necessary analyses comprehensively. Ensuring high quality and safety not only guarantees the provision of quality products for the Georgian population but also supports the integration of Georgian products into the European Union market,” he emphasized.

At the meeting, the Director of the State Laboratory of Agriculture, Irakli Guledani, provided a detailed overview of the ongoing aquaculture-related research in the country. The discussion also addressed the export potential of Georgian products.

The meeting was attended by Ozurgeti Municipality Mayor Avtandil Talakvadze, along with representatives of the State Agricultural Laboratory, the National Food Agency, and local fish farms.

Following the meeting, Deputy Minister Solomon Pavliashvili, accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture of Adjara, Zaza Shavadze, representatives of the Ministry, and fish farmers, visited the Forage Trout Incubation Facility operated by the Organic Aquaculture Development Association in Keda Township, where they became acquainted with current activities.

The importance of laboratory research for the development and sustainability of such farms was also highlighted during the visit.
