An integrated plant protection (IPM) training course took place in Batumi, which was organized by USAID and the National Food Agency

The most recent techniques for diagnosing plant diseases were covered during the course; both theoretical and practical instruction were given. The participants talked about the best and most efficient plant protection techniques.

Manana Gurielidze, the chief specialist of the Phytopathology Laboratory of the Plant Pests Diagnostics Department of the State Laboratory of Agriculture, took part in the training.

According to the chief specialist of the laboratory, the development of a modern integrated, ecological concept of plant protection, which offers the use of safe means and methods of protection, is relevant today.

To ensure plant protection, it is important to implement plant health control, which includes monitoring the spread and development of harmful organisms, their detection and diagnosis.

The State Laboratory of Agriculture actively cooperates with international organizations. A number of successful projects have been implemented over the years.
