Vine canker is a severe fungus infection that results in significant losses

In the Phytopathology Laboratory of the Plant Pest Diagnostics Department of the State Laboratory of Agriculture, you can check the vines for the presence of various diseases and pests. Vine canker is a serious fungal disease that causes great losses. Representatives of the Botryosphaeria genus Neofusicoccum parvum, Diplodia seriata (anamorphic stage), are the causative agents of vine cancer. These fungi are very aggressive pathogenic fungi.
Symptoms of grape cancer include the following: Discoloration-darkening is observed on the cuttings of the vine strain; reddish or brownish spots (depending on the grape variety) are observed on the leaves, which extend between the veins or on the edges of the leaf plate.
The leaves wither, the buds wither and the grains of the bunch turn brown and seem to be ironed. Finally, the vine withers. In order to prevent the death of the plant, a timely diagnosis is necessary.
The Department of Diagnostics of Plant Pests of the State Laboratory of Agriculture, manages plant laboratory control. In the phytopathology lab, it is possible to identify the illness early and save the plant from wilting.
