Several samples of almonds were studied in the Phytopathology Laboratory of the Plant Pest Diagnostics Department of the State Laboratory of Agriculture
The samples were found to have almond wilt (Verticillium wilt). This disease is causing significant economic damage. The disease is caused by pathogenic fungi (Verticillium dahliae and Verticillium albo-atrum).
Yellowing, wilting and falling of leaves can be observed in the plant. The next stage is the withering of shoots and branches, a change in the color of fibrous cones (browning), and finally, the plant withers.
In order to prevent the death of the plant, a timely diagnosis is necessary.
Laboratory control of plants is carried out in the Department of Diagnostics of Plant Pests of the State Laboratory of Agriculture.
In the laboratory of phytopathology, it is possible to diagnose the disease in time, which will prevent the wilting of the plant.
