The State Laboratory of Agriculture is conducting laboratory research on rabies
Laboratory research on rabies is carried out in the Department of Animal Diseases and Diagnostics of the State Laboratory of Agriculture.
Rabies research methods introduced in the laboratory are accredited and internationally recognized. Research methods are derived from guidelines recognized by the International Organization for Animal Health (OIE).
All warm-blooded animals are identified with the illness within two to three hours. In 2019, 660 rabies samples were submitted to the State Agricultural Laboratory for testing, of which 44 samples were positive for rabies. Additionally, 229 samples entered the laboratory in 2020, and 24 of those samples tested positive.
Currently, a new PCR method is being implemented in the laboratory, which will facilitate and make the diagnosis of rabies faster. The rabies virus sequencing method is being implemented, as a result of which it will become easier and faster to determine the origin of the virus.
